Longevity & Fitness

Measure what matters for moving well, staying fit and ageing well

PhysAnalytica combines objective fitness, metabolic and movement assessment to help you understand important aspects of your physical capacity and make informed decisions about exercise, movement and long-term wellbeing.

From aerobic fitness and metabolism to gait and balance, we measure key components of how your body performs today and help you identify areas worth working on.

This programme operates directly within PhysAnalytica's core physiotherapy mission of helping you move better with less pain, underpinned by the combined strengths of clinical physiotherapy, biomechanics, physiology and targeted fitness testing.

What do we mean by longevity?

Longevity is not simply about living for more years. It is also about maintaining the physical capacity to remain active, independent and able to do the things that matter to you as you age.

PhysAnalytica does not predict an individual's lifespan. Instead, we objectively measure aspects of fitness, movement and metabolism that can help build a clearer picture of current physical capacity.

Physiotherapy is PhysAnalytica's core discipline, and biomechanics, physiology and fitness testing exist to serve that same goal of moving better with less pain, now extended across the whole of adult life.

The Clinical Cycle

Measure. Understand. Improve. Reassess.

A continuous, objective framework designed to support functional vitality, musculoskeletal resilience, and physical independence at every stage of life.

Four important components of long-term physical capability

Cardiorespiratory Fitness

How effectively can your body deliver and use oxygen during exercise?

Use VO₂ Max assessment to measure aerobic capacity and provide personalised information about exercise response and training intensity.

Movement & Gait

How efficiently and confidently do you move?

Use objective gait and plantar-pressure analysis to understand walking, loading and movement patterns.

Balance

How well do you control your body during standing and movement?

Balance is an important component of physical function, particularly as people age. PhysAnalytica can objectively measure centre-of-pressure behaviour and weight distribution during controlled balance tasks.

Metabolism

How much energy does your body use at rest?

Resting Metabolic Rate testing provides an objective measurement of resting energy expenditure and can support more informed nutrition and body-composition planning.

Cardiorespiratory fitness: one of the most informative measures of physical fitness

Cardiorespiratory fitness describes the ability of the heart, lungs, circulation and muscles to work together during exercise. VO2 Max provides an objective measure of this capacity.

PhysAnalytica can use the KORR CardioCoach MAX to measure:

VO2 Max or achieved peak oxygen uptake
Exercise response
Personalised exercise intensity zones
Exercise respiratory exchange
Relative fat/carbohydrate utilisation
Exercise calorie expenditure

Fitness is more than cardiovascular capacity

Remaining physically capable also depends on how well we move, load, balance and respond to everyday physical demands.

PhysAnalytica can assess:

Gait
Plantar pressure distribution
Left-right loading
Balance
Centre of pressure movement
Movement-related symptoms
Functional limitations

Understand your resting energy requirements

Resting Metabolic Rate testing measures the energy your body uses while at rest. This provides an individual measurement rather than relying only on population-based prediction equations.

Testing may support:

Nutrition planning

Establishes a precise caloric baseline to inform structured dietary guidance, fuelling protocols, and daily nutritional balance.

Body-composition goals

Informs targets by aligning caloric intake and training volume with your specific physiological burn rate rather than population averages.

Understanding energy requirements

Identifies your basal metabolic expenditure so you can understand daily metabolic load, recovery demands, and metabolic efficiency.

Monitoring change over time

Provides repeatable metrics to observe metabolic adaptation following changes in training, body composition, or conditioning regimens.

All metabolic assessments are conducted in clinical conditions with calibrated metabolic analysis systems.

Longevity and fitness are relevant at every age

Building Fitness

For people starting or returning to structured exercise who want objective baseline measurements.

Healthy Ageing

For people who want to maintain aerobic capacity, balance, movement and physical independence as they get older.

Active Adults

For people already exercising who want better information about their fitness and movement.

Athletes

For recreational and competitive athletes wanting objective physiological and biomechanical measurements to support training decisions.

Methodology & Tracking

Measure change, not just a single result

Objective testing becomes particularly useful when repeated under comparable conditions.

Reassessment allows clinicians and clients to evaluate how aerobic fitness, exercise response, gait, balance, and metabolic parameters evolve across weeks and months. Rather than assuming every shift stems directly from a single intervention, longitudinal data offers a transparent picture of your physiological and movement trajectory.

Testing Sequence
01
Baseline

Initial calibrated assessment capturing resting metrics, biomechanical markers, and physiological responses.

02
Action

Implementation of your targeted rehabilitation plan, conditioning block, or movement adjustments.

03
Reassess

Repeated testing under comparable conditions to track shifts in gait, balance, and metabolic profiles over time.

Key Parameters Tracked Across Reassessments

Standardised protocols ensure that variation in testing reflects physiological and mechanical realities rather than measurement inconsistency.

Fitness testing for better-informed training

For active clients and athletes, VO₂ testing provides objective physiological information that can help guide exercise intensity and monitor training adaptations.

Athletic Performance & Conditioning

Identify precise aerobic thresholds, metabolic efficiency, and maximal oxygen uptake. Testing removes guesswork from interval targets, pacing, and recovery zones.

Precision heart rate and power zone calibration

Healthy Ageing & Cardiorespiratory Health

The very same clinical technology serves individuals aiming for lifelong vitality. Cardiorespiratory fitness is one of the strongest clinical predictors of long-term mobility and sustained cardiovascular wellness.

Safely progressive exercise for longevity

Longevity without guesswork or gimmicks

PhysAnalytica focuses on measurements that have a clear physiological or functional meaning.

We measure fitness

We don't guess your lifespan.

We assess movement

We don't create fictional biological ages.

We measure metabolism

We don't promise rapid weight loss.

We track change

We don't guarantee outcomes.

Data is useful when it is interpreted properly

Measurements are interpreted in context, taking account of the test performed, the individual's goals and the limitations of each measurement.
